How to Check Your Ultherapy or Thermage Shot Count in Korea (2026)
By Dr. IM JUNHYUNG · Updated
- Shot units differ between devices, so compare like with like.
- A total without areas and depths tells you little.
- Thermage FLX tips are single-use: new, sealed and opened in front of you.
- Ultherapy transducers are counted by the device — check the counter before and after.
- Keep a photo of your record; a doctor at home can use it.
Why shot counts confuse people
Every lifting device counts in its own unit. Ultherapy counts lines of focused ultrasound; Thermage FLX counts radiofrequency pulses from a tip; cooled ultrasound devices fire thousands of small shots in one session. None of these numbers can be compared with each other.
So “600 shots” is only meaningful next to a device name. When you compare prices between clinics, compare the same device and the same unit — and then ask where the shots will go.
A total tells you little
The same number of lines concentrated along the jawline, or spread thinly across the whole face, gives very different results. Depth matters too: Ultherapy works at 4.5, 3.0 and 1.5 mm, and the right mix depends on your skin thickness and fat.
A useful plan reads like this: “4.5 mm — jawline and under-chin; 3.0 mm — cheeks; 1.5 mm — around the mouth”, with shots for each line. That is what we write on your record before we start.
Questions to ask before you book
| Ask | What a clear answer includes |
|---|---|
| Which exact device is it? | The brand and model, such as Ultherapy Prime or Thermage FLX — not just “HIFU” or “RF lifting”. |
| How many shots, in total? | The total, in writing, before you start. |
| Is the tip new and sealed? | For single-use tips: opened in front of you, with the lot number recorded. |
| Who performs the treatment? | A named doctor. At Taut, you’ll know who before treatment, and they sign your record. |
| Can I see the counter? | Shown before you start and checked together when you finish. |
| Will I get a written record? | Device, shot count, lot numbers, the treating doctor and when to come back. |
On the day: four steps
This is how the Taut Record works. It is the same for every patient and takes a few minutes.
- Plan. After consultation, the device, areas, depths and shots are written on a paper record card. You read it before anything starts.
- Open. Single-use tips and products are opened in front of you. The lot number goes on the card, and the device counter is checked at the start.
- Count. When we finish, we look at the counter together and write the actual number next to the plan.
- Keep. The doctor and you sign the card, and you take it home. We also send it as a photo.
Genuine tips and products, explained
Thermage FLX. The tip is single-use. It should arrive sealed, be opened in front of you, and the system tracks the pulses used from it.
Ultherapy. Transducers are used for a set number of lines across treatments, so a new seal is not expected. The device counter is what to check: the number at the start, the number at the end, and the difference written on your record.
Botox and fillers. The product box and vial or syringe should be shown before opening, and the product name, lot number and units or volume recorded. Fillers are opened for you on the day and are not kept for another patient.
If fewer shots are used than planned
The plan is a plan, not a quota. Sometimes an area needs less energy than expected — thin skin over bone, for example, or a spot that is already tender. When that happens, the actual number and the reason are written on your record, and we explain any difference before you leave.
After you leave
Keep the card, or at least a photo of it. If you see a doctor at home, it shows exactly what was done and when. It also makes your next visit simpler: we start from the record rather than from memory.
FAQ
Is 600 Thermage shots the same as 600 Ultherapy lines?
No. They are different devices with different units. Compare shot numbers only within the same device.
Why do shot numbers vary so much between devices?
Each device counts differently. Cooled ultrasound devices fire thousands of small shots in one session, while Ultherapy counts lines and Thermage counts pulses.
Can I watch the tip being opened?
Yes. At Taut, single-use tips and products are opened in front of you and the lot number is written on your record.
What should my record show?
The device, the shot count, tip or product lot numbers, the doctor who treated you and when to come back.
Does a higher shot count give a better result?
Not necessarily. Where the energy goes and at which depth matters more than the total.
Can I show the record to my doctor at home?
Yes. You take the paper card home, and we also send it as a photo, so any doctor can see what was done.
